Abstract

ABSTRACT

Background: Hypertension is one of the degenerative diseases that is often experienced by the elderly and is a major cause of global morbidity and mortality. The elderly have a high risk of experiencing hypertension due to the aging process that affects the cardiovascular system. This study aims to evaluate the effect of ergonomic gymnastics on blood pressure in the elderly with hypertension in PSBDBB 2 West Jakarta in May 2025 with 2 respondents. Method: The research design used was a case study with a nursing care approach based on the nursing process which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The intervention given was ergonomic gymnastics for 3 consecutive days in the morning with blood pressure monitoring before and after gymnastics. Results: The results showed a decrease in systolic and diastolic blood pressure in patient I from 152/100mmHg to 149/89mmHg, Patient II decreased blood pressure from 147/100mmHg to 145/93mmHg after the intervention. Conclusion: Ergonomic gymnastics has been proven to increase comfort and sense of security in the elderly, as well as improve blood circulation through integrated body movement and breathing. These findings support that ergonomic gymnastics can be used as a non-pharmacological nursing intervention in the management of hypertension in the elderly. This study contributes to the development of promotive and preventive community nursing interventions, and can be applied independently by the elderly as part of a healthy lifestyle.
